Monday June 24th marks the first successful flight of N18HS, the second airplane entirely built by local high school students at the KMYA hanger located at Hartford Municipal Airport.
It was perfect weather for the maiden voyage and KMYA mentor Larry Sullivan and Cub Flight School Instructor Bob Lussow put the N18HS through its paces for one hour before cruising to a smooth landing on runway 09.
N18HS has now been successfully flown for 5 of the 10 flight hours needed for students to be able to fly. KMYA plans to keep N18HS as a second flight training airplane in addition to the Piper Cub that was donated for student lessons in 2021.
N18HS will be proudly displayed at EAA Airventure 2024 and students will be on hand to field questions. Congratulations KMYA students and mentors on your dedication to the two year build project - your hard work has paid off!
