After two school years of work, N18HS, the second RV-12 built by area HS students was certified by the FAA as airworthy, and took flight June 24, 2024. Bob Lussow and Larry Sullivan, piloted her uneventfully on a beautiful, clear June morning.
Since then the 10 hours of test flights have been completed, and several minor adjustments were made. Zach Lobert accompanied Larry Sullivan on the flight into AirVenture, where 18HS was on display at the Teen Build site for the week.
Twenty-one KMYA team members camped at AirVenture this year, and N18HS, our newest RV12 was on display for the week. The weather was perfect, and the students enjoyed daily airshows, and educational workshops. Each student interviewed attendees to broaden their Oshkosh experience and share it with the group.
Preparing for our Next Airplane
The 2024-2025 KMYA build team has been assembled and new team members have completed their practice kits. We are now ready to begin work on our third RV12 aircraft. The team will begin with actual airplane parts after Labor Day, starting with the fuselage section.
We have 24 team members who will be divided into teams to tackle the many different components of the RV12.
